The Board of Directors of The Boys & Girls Club of Assabet Valley advises, governs, oversee's policy and direction, and assists with the leadership and general promotion of The Boys & Girls Club of Assabet Valley so as to support the organization’s mission & needs.   Our Board has had a recent transition of members to include a member from each of the surrounding towns the Club serves.  For more information on Board opportunities please contact Fred Astrauskas at fastrauskas@verizon.net.

Jim Fairweather has been in the Massachusetts High Tech industry for over 32 years. He’s held numerous Sales Executive and Management positions at Hewlett Packard, Polycom, PictureTel, MCI WorldCom, Honeywell Bull and Stratus Computer. Jim’s responsibilities have included North & South American Sales & Marketing and Global Markets. Jim has worked in the Video Telepresence and Unified Communications industry for over 13 years. He is very well known and highly respected in the marketplace. He negotiated and managed the first political implementation of Video Conferencing at the 2004 Democratic Convention in Boston, MA. Jim is currently the Executive Vice President of Global Sales for RevoLabs, Inc.. Prior to joining RevoLabs, Jim was VP of Worldwide Sales for HP’s Visual Collaboration Business Unit.  He was responsible for global sales, channel strategy, and HPVC field engagement with over 25,000 Sales Professionals at Hewlett Packard.  Jim was also with Polycom / PictureTel for over 10 years as VP Americas Sales and Global Alliances. Jim is very active in the community. He’s President & Chairman of the Boys & Girls Club of Assabet Valley (since 1995). He is also Treasurer and Board Member of Empower Peace. Empower Peace is a non-profit organization that manages a worldwide network of high school students and teachers committed to breaking down cultural barriers through open dialogue using videoconferencing.  Jim is also a member of the Mass Telecommunications Council, American Management Association and Bentley Alumni Association. Jim graduated from Bentley University with a BS in Accounting and the University of Michigan School of Business, Executive Sales Management Program.  He resides in Maynard Ma with his wife and three children.

Fred Astrauskas

Professional Experience:
Fred is a Certified Public Accountant and the Managing Director and Founder of AnchorWatch Capital Advisors, LLC.  He has over 20 years of accounting and finance experience.  For the past 16 years, he has specialized in providing merger and acquisition advisory services to his clients.  During this time, Fred has led hundreds of transactions. His experience includes transactions in the manufacturing, distribution, retail and consumer products, and technology industries, as well as with sell side and carve-out transactions.   Transaction size has ranged from less than $10 million dollars to over $5 billion dollars. Prior to founding AnchorWatch Capital Advisors, LLC, Fred was the practice leader of Grant Thornton’s transaction advisory services practice in Boston.  Fred also spent 11 years in the transaction advisory services practice at Ernst & Young.  During that time, he spent four years working in Dusseldorf, Germany in Ernst & Young’s Corporate Finance practice where he specialized in cross-border transactions.  He has direct deal experience leading transactions in over 15 countries.   Fred serves on the Board of Directors and is President and Treasurer of the Boys & Girls Club of Assabet Valley.     Professional qualifications and memberships

Tom Lent

Tom is a partner of Marathas Barrow & Weatherhead LLP.   Tom’s practice involves litigation and counseling on all aspects of federal and state employment law issues, representing corporate clients as well as executives, senior-level personnel and individual employees within a wide range of industries, including telecommunications, travel, education, biotechnology, publishing and financial services.  Tom also serves as counsel to one of the largest and most diverse educational collaborative s in Massachusetts. Since 2007, Boston and Law and Politics magazines have named Tom one of the top young lawyers in Massachusetts, including him in their list of Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Stars in employment law.
Tom received his B.A. from Bates College, where he was a Dean’s List student, Francis Ouimet Scholar and a member of the football and baseball teams. He received his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law.  Tom lives in Acton with his family and is active in both youth and adult sport leagues.  

Bob Lammey

Bob is a partner in the Exempt Organizations Tax Practice at Ernst & Young and is a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He leads EY’s national higher education practice and has specific expertise in international tax and compliance matters. Most recently he led the higher education and non-profits practice at High Street Partners and was previously the Director of Global Business Compliance at Harvard University. While at Harvard, Bob was responsible for all U.S. tax reporting, financial policy, internal controls, and had compliance oversight over the University’s international activities. Since Harvard, Bob has supported over 100 universities with the successful legal and financial structuring of academic and research activities abroad.
Bob is a longtime Acton resident and has two daughters. His wife Heather is very active in the Acton school system.

Michelle Lavers

Professional Experience: 
Michelle is a Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer at Digital Results Group, Inc. in Boston. She has 20 years of experience in the software industry, including technical writing, quality assurance, project management, and leadership. She has specialized in validation of features and defect fixes to ensure product quality before it is released to customers. Michelle works closely with the development and design teams to understand customer needs and ensure product quality and customer satisfaction. Michelle also has a Secret Security Clearance with Digital Results Group, Inc. Prior to Digital Results Group, Inc., Michelle has worked for multiple software companies throughout Boston and the Midwest. She has experience with project management, team leadership, customer interaction and satisfaction, and has worked with multiple offshore development teams. Michelle has served on the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Assabet Valley for over 15 years, including Secretary and Vice-President. She maintains an active volunteer role and committee membership in addition to her service on the Board of Directors. 
Michelle received a B.A. in Communications from Wake Forest University.

Garnet D. Glover

Garnet Glover is a 25 year veteran in the insurance industry and recently joined Athenium in 2011. As an Account Manager, he partners with clients on developing and delivering team think quality assurance solutions that help them gain powerful insights on individual and team performance. In addition, he is responsible for business development at Athenium. Garnet began his insurance career with Safeco Insurance in Southern California as a Casualty Claims Adjuster in 1985. Since then he held numerous regional management positions in operations, product management and audit in the Claims Department. Garnet was responsible for the Catastrophe Audit Teams for the Northridge Earthquake, Laguna Fires and LA Riots. He also developed and implemented different automated solutions for audit, vendor management and training. Prior to joining Athenium, Garnet served as General Manager, Sales & Marketing, Eastern US and Canada at Clean Energy Fuels, the leading provider of natural gas for transportation in North America. He increased new customer acquisitions 25%, created multiple "Green” public policy initiatives and implemented the first public-private partnership with the State of New York. Garnet maintains an active involvement in several community service organizations. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Assabet Valley and Concord-Carlisle Youth Baseball / Softball. Garnet received his formal education at Bowdoin College where he earned a B.A in Liberal Arts – Government/History. He is married with two daughters and enjoys cooking and coaching youth sports in Concord, MA.

Alan is a senior partner within EYs Global Financial Services Practice. He has over 25 years of assurance and advisory experience serving the wealth and asset management industry, with a specific focus on risk management, regulatory compliance, and business strategy and performance improvement. Prior to joining EY, Alan held various positions at Fidelity Investments. He has had significant experience providing advisory services to firms seeking to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency, reduce operational and regulatory compliance risk, enhance internal controls, and reduce costs. His clients have included global wealth & asset management firms, hedge funds, investment advisers, private equity firms, transfer agents, asset services, insurance companies, banks and broker dealers. Alan is a member of the American Institute and Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Treasury Management Association. Alan is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Cash Manager (CCM), and has been Series 7, 6, and 63 licensed. He has a BS in Finance from Bentley University and an MS in Accountancy and an MBA from Northeastern University. Alan and his wife Julie are long-time residents of Stow and have three children, Andrew, Emily and Eric.
